Greetings! We only have three weeks to go! We begin this week with our 7th Grade Service Learning Field Trip to Akridge Scout Reservation where students will be learning about community involvement and how to be a good citizen. Students will also get a chance to help the environment and get their hands dirty by planting some trees!
Students in 7th Grade this week will be taking their Social Studies State Test on May 22nd (Mrs. Wood's homeroom) and May 23rd (Mr. Persinger's and Mrs. Davis'). 8th Graders in Social Studies will have class on Tuesday and Friday, where we will be working on our last project, a Civil War Lesson students will be designing themselves. Hello all! The end of the year is certainly creeping up on us and our work in 7th and 8th Grades is coming to a close. Social Studies testing for 7th Grade will be next week on May 22nd and 23rd. We will completed a practice test last week in class, but for students wanting further practice they can also complete a Practice Assessment at home by following the link HERE.
8th Grade is nearing closer and closer to graduation and we will be ending our year with a fun opportunity for students: next week we will begin working on a Student-Created Lesson Project on the aspect of Civil War history of each group's choice. Students can teach about Civil War medicine, battles, women in the Civil War, African American soldiers, etc. This will be a great way for students to end the year showing what they have learned! Our week will look like this: Monday, May 13th - 8th Grade: Life in the North and South Graphic Organizer and Activity Tuesday, May 14th - 8th Grade: Review and Notebook Organization Day Wednesday, May 15th - 7th Grade: 7th Grade Social Studies Post Test Thursday, May 16th - 7th Grade: Continue Green Cities Unit with Vocabulary Organizer Friday, May 17th - 8th Grade: Notebook Quiz for Economic and Social Change Unit (Quizizz to review will be available starting Tuesday) Don't forget, if you haven't turned them in yet, Service Learning field trip permission forms are due by Friday! We are looking for 2-3 parent chaperones who would like to attend as well. Upcoming Events: Wed 5/15 - PCA Pride Day (free) Mon 5/20 - 7th Grade Service Learning Field Trip Social Studies testing for 7th Grade will be coming up shortly. On Monday, May 20, the 7th graders will be participating in a Service Learning field trip at Akridge Scout Reservation in Dover. They will be planting trees and learning about citizenship skills. Please ensure permission forms are signed and returned to school as soon as possible. This Friday, 5/10 is a N.U.T. Day (to support Athletics)! Have a great week! |
