Welcome back students and parents! I hope everyone had a relaxing Thanksgiving Break and it ready to return to school.
Our week will work slightly differently than usual due to the 8th Grade field trip to Sky Zone on Tuesday. Due to that trip, 7th Grade students will have Social Studies and Health classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. 8th Grade Students will have Social Studies and Health on Thursday only. Next week our schedule will resume as usual. Another important upcoming date is the end of Trimester 1 on Friday. On this day students must have all assignments turned in and all assessments completed. This day will also be Pajama Day for the Upper School! Grades will be due next Monday and Thursday report cards will go home. Our week will look like this:

We have only 2 days this week and then we are off for Thanksgiving Break! Last Friday we had a great time on our field trip to D.C. What a memorable experience that many will not soon forget! Thanks to all the wonderful chaperones that helped make the trip possible! We appreciate your support!
This Monday will be our much anticipated presentations of the 7th Grade Country Research Projects with the International Festival in the PCA Cafe from 8:45 to 10:00. Students in class will be finishing their units with Cover Pages for the unit "How Geographers Look at the World". Students in 8th Grade will also be finishing our current unit with a 13 Colonies Crossword and a short quiz on the 13 Colonies. Some students will also need to complete their Colonial Life WebQuests. When we return to school following Thanksgiving Break, students in both grades will be beginning new units. Students in 7th Grade will start the unit Partnerships & Partitions and 8th Grade will begin Revolutionary America. Monday, November 19th - 7th Grade: International Festival in Cafe 8:45-10AM; complete partner assessment and Student Self Reflection on Project Work; complete How Geographers Look at the World Cover Page in notebook Tuesday, November 20th - 8th Grade: Complete 13 Colonies Crossword; 13 Colonies Quiz (Link to Quizizz Game to review); finish WebQuest **Reminder - the first trimester ends on Friday, 11/30 and grades are due by Monday, 12/3. Report cards will go home in Thursday folders on 12/6.** Enjoy the week with family and loved ones! Happy Veterans Day! This short week of school students in 7th Grade will be using the last two days of class time to finish their Trifold boards for the International Festival. Parents are welcome to attend and help students showcase what they've learned. For homework the weekend of November 9th-November 12th, students should be finishing up an charts, graphs, images, descriptions for their Trifolds and printing them or putting them on a flash drive for Mrs. Davis to print Tuesday morning. Students in 7th Grade will also be attending the field trip to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC on Friday. As I will be attending this trip with the 7th Grade, the 8th Grade will have class with Mrs. Poore on this day. Students will be completing an Exit Ticket in class and will need to review with this game in order to be prepared for the exit ticket. November 15th: 7th Grade - Last day to work on Trifold and project Friday, November 16th: 7th Grade Field Trip to DC (8th Graders report to Mrs. Poore) Link for 8th Grade Web Quest (Nov. 9th Assignment) Hello! This week students in 7th grade will be continuing work on their Trifold and presentations for the International Festival. Please plan to have your 7th grade students at school on November 19th; this is the date for the Country Research presentations at the International Festival held in the cafe and will be a large part of their grade for the trimester. Students in 8th Grade will be finishing their investigation into the first 13 colonies by creating currency for a group of British colonies in America. Our next Open House will be Thurs. 11/8 from 3:30 - 5:30. All spots for 7th grade are currently filled; please contact any member of Monday, November 5th - 8th Grade: Complete Chart Paper on New England, Middle, or Southern Colonies and post for Gallery Walk; fill in notes about each colony group on pages 21, 22, 23. Tuesday, November 6th - 7th Grade: Continue work on products for each element of a country's culture (Government, Religion, Language, Customs & Traditions, Economy, Food & Clothing, Music & Dance); all checkpoints should be signed by Mrs. Davis! Wednesday, November 7th - 8th Grade: Discuss symbols in currency and the colonial economy; students will select a different colony group than their assigned group's and design the currency for the colony Thursday, November 8th - 7th Grade: Continue work from Tuesday Friday, November 9th - 8th Grade: Continue work on currency (due at the beginning of class Tuesday) |
