Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed the extra long weekend in remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Although we will have a shorter week, students will be busily working in both 7th and 8th Grade Social Studies! As we will be near our Interactive Notebook quizzes, this week I will be updating my website with images of the 7th and 8th Grade Interactive Notebooks to prepare students for quizzes and notebook checks.
This week students in 7th Grade will be finishing up on unit on Trade with an activity to practice understanding of our new Trade Barrier terms such as subsidy, standard, quota, tariff, and embargo. I am also hoping students are able to work on a group Tariff simulation by Thursday. Next week students should be ready for a test on the Why Trade Unit and a notebook check. Students in 8th Grade this will be continuing to work on their Revolutionary War Trading Cards. Last week students were assigned to research 4 battles of the American Revolutionary War and determine its date, location, summary of events, and the battle's importance. This assignment should be completed by Wednesday and students should be ready to move on and create their Trading Cards on Wednesday. Students will be discussing and comparing their information on Friday to determine what some of the most important battles of the Revolutionary War were. Students should be prepared to have a quiz and notebook check next week on this unit.
